The O’Sullivan Stacey Aboriginal Scholarship is available to full-time and part-time second year Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking an Bachelor degree program at Adelaide University.
The scholarship will help recipients meet the costs associated with study including‚ but not limited to‚ textbooks‚ supplies‚ uniforms‚ computing equipment‚ travel‚ tuition fees or other out-of-pocket expenses.
Value:
Up to $30‚000‚ payable as $10‚000 per year for a maximum of three years.
Scholarship recipients will receive the following payments:
• $5‚000 after the Semester 1 census date
• $5‚000 after the Semester 2 census date

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as an Aboriginal person in the community the student belongs to‚ lives in‚ or has lived in.
• Be a second-year Bachelor degree student.
• Be enrolled full-time (preferred) or part-time.
• Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or above.
• Be experiencing financial and/or other educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study.
• Provide a written statement.
Applicants need to demonstrate financial need to apply for the scholarship. This can be done by providing evidence of a current Health Care Card and/or a means-tested Centrelink benefit e.g. Austudy‚ Abstudy‚ Youth Allowance‚ etc. Applicants not in receipt of government means tested benefits can complete the Adelaide University Financial Details for Scholarship Eligibility to support their application.
Applicants must provide a written statement (maximum 750 words) detailing:
• Family heritage and connection to community
• Reasons for studying their current program and how the degree supports their future aspirations.
• Details of any financial and/or educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study. they would like considered.
• How the grant would enhance the applicant’s learning experience and how the grant funds are likely to be used.
• Academic achievements.
• Community involvement and/or extracurricular activities/interests.
If‚ in the view of the selection panel‚ no applicant is sufficiently meritorious‚ no award shall be made.
The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit and on the written statement outlining why the applicant would be a worthy scholarship recipient and the extent to which the scholarship would help overcome financial barriers. Individual circumstances‚ as outlined in the written statement‚ will be considered when determining the successful applicant.
Students may be in receipt of another scholarship or grant administered by Adelaide University.
