The Michael Robert Poag Scholarship was established in 1980 by a donation to the University of Adelaide from Mr and Mrs R Poag in memory of their son, to support students of classical guitar at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. The Scholarship supports one undergraduate student who is undertaking studies in classical guitar at Adelaide University.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be commencing or continuing in an undergraduate degree in classical guitar studies
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA or ATAR)
- Auditions, performances or interviews relevant to the Elder Conservatorium of Music
Important information
- There is no application process for this scholarship, it will be directly awarded
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may be eligible for this Scholarship
