The Kenneth Anesbury First Year Grant assist student experiencing financial need from the northern suburbs of Adelaide to study an undergraduate degree at Adelaide University. The grant is available to students from designated northern suburb areas who are new to higher education and enrolled full-time in any Adelaide University undergraduate degree.
To be eligible for the grant‘ applicants must have an ATAR of 70 or above (inclusive of adjustment factors) and be able to demonstrate that they lived in northern Adelaide for most of their high school attendance and currently reside in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The eligible postcode locations are 5106, 5107, 5108, 5109, 5110, 5111, 5112, 5113, 5114, 5115, 5116, 5117, 5118, 5120 and 5121.
Value: $1,000 per recipient paid after Semester 1 census date

⦁ Australian Citizen‚ Australian Permanent Resident or, Holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visa or New Zealand Citizen.
⦁ Lived in an eligible northern Adelaide postcode area for at least three of the last five years of high school attendance and currently reside in an eligible northern Adelaide postcode area.
⦁ Commencing student attending university for the first time.
⦁ Gap year students are eligible provided the gap does not exceed one year.
⦁ Evidence or financial need.
⦁ Academic merit (ATAR of 70 or above inclusive of any adjustment factors).
⦁ Full-time study load.
⦁ Submission of a written statement.
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (250-500 words) outlining:
⦁ Reasons for studying their Adelaide University program and how the degree supports their aspirations including career goals.
⦁ Financial and/or other educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study (disclosed at the applicant’s discretion).
⦁ How the grant funds will benefit them and their study.
Current financial need is a key component of the selection criteria and applicants should take care to address this aspect in their written statements.
