The Kemp Family Aboriginal Student Grant is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander single parents studying any undergraduate program at any year level at Adelaide University.
The Grant recognises the financial and time constraints that often impact the ability for single parents to realise their tertiary education ambitions.
Value: $5‚000 (once-off payment).
Pro-rata payment applies for part-time enrolment.

To be eligible for the grant‚ applicants must:
⦁ Identify as Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as an Aboriginal person in the community the student belongs to‚ lives in‚ or has lived in.
⦁ be a resident of South Australia at the time of application and expect to be in South Australia during the term of the Grant
⦁ Be an undergraduate student (any year level).
⦁ Be a single parent experiencing financial need.
⦁ Have full-time or part-time enrolment.
⦁ Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 or above (if a continuing student).
⦁ Provide a written statement clearly addressing the criteria.
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:
⦁ A personal statement providing some background and how they connect to family‚ culture‚ community and country.
⦁ Status as a single parent.
⦁ Reasons for studying their Adelaide University program and future career goals.
⦁ How the grant funds would help achieve these goals.
⦁ Academic achievements.
⦁ Community involvement and/or extracurricular activities/interests.
Applicants must also be able to provide evidence of financial need‚ either by providing Centrelink Health Care Card or means-tested benefit. If the applicant is not in Centrelink Health Care Card or means-tested benefit can complete the Adelaide University Financial Details for Scholarship Assessment Eligibility form‚ to support their application.
The selection panel will review shortlisted candidates and select a recipient.
If‚ in the view of the selection panel‚ no applicant is sufficiently meritorious‚ no award shall be made.
Recipients may be in receipt of another scholarship or grant administered by Adelaide University.
