The Judith M Williams OAM Scholarship for Humanities and Social Sciences has been established by Professor John Williams AM to support students undertaking an undergraduate Humanities or Social Sciences program of study at Adelaide University.
The scholarship is dedicated to the mother of Professor John Williams AM as she was the one supporting and encouraging John to be the first in the family to attend University. Mrs Williams has been a strong advocate of social justice and a dedicated volunteer to local government and charities for several decades.

Value: $5,000 per year to be paid in two equal instalments.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Have attended a public secondary school and be undertaking the second year of a Humanities or Social Sciences undergraduate program at Adelaide University
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances. *Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Financial need
- Answers to questions on the application form

- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
