The John Goodhart Travel Scholarships, established in 2003 at the University of Adelaide, honour the memory of Dr John Goodhart. Funded by donations from his colleagues and a bequest from his wife, Joan Eirene Goodhart, the scholarships support postgraduate dentistry students to travel to institutions, clinics, or laboratories as part of their studies.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a postgraduate coursework student of the School of Dentistry
- Be travelling to other institutions, clinics or laboratories as part of their program of study
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled on a full-time basis
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
*Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit
- Financial need
- Answers to questions on the application form
Important information
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply.
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered.
- Two scholarships available. Should the recipient of a Scholarship not proceed with the study as planned, then the Scholarship amount must be repaid to the University in full within 3 months after the date of the planned travel
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may not apply for this Scholarship
