In 2011, Professor Ashok Khurana, a former staff member of the University of Adelaide, donated a sum of $500,000 to establish an annual scholarship supporting Indian scholars. Following a successful career as an engineer in the petroleum industry, Professor Khurana had a desire to give something back to the Indian education system from which he benefitted. He also wished to express his appreciation to the Australian nation for accepting him as an immigrant and for affording him countless opportunities over the previous 39 years, in all aspects of his life.
