The Helping Hand Allied Health Study Support Grants is available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) and Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) degrees at Adelaide University's Whyalla campus and living in the region. The grant encourages promising regional students to maintain enrolment and conclude their studies. Aboriginal students are encouraged to apply.
The grant is valued at up to $4000 for one year, provided the recipient continues to meet the grant criteria and maintains satisfactory academic performance. Recipients will receive two payments of up to $2000 within a year of being awarded the grant.
Value:
$4,000 in two instalments of $2,000.
To be eligible to receive the grant payments successful applicants must:
• Remain enrolled after Semester 1 and Semester 2 census dates
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

To be eligible for the grant‚ applicants must:
⦁ Be an Australian Citizen‚ Permanent Resident of Australia‚ Holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or a New Zealand Citizen
⦁ Have full-time or part-time in-person enrolment in one of the following programs offered at the Whyalla campus: Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) or Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
⦁ Be experiencing financial and/or other educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study
⦁ Demonstrate academic achievement (a cumulative GPA of 4.5 or above for continuing students or for commencing students‚ a satisfactory Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR))
⦁ Provide a written statement addressing the points below.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need to apply for the grant. This can be done by providing evidence of current receipt of a Health Care Card and/or a means-tested Centrelink benefit e.g. Austudy‚ Abstudy‚ Youth Allowance‚ etc. Applicants not in receipt of government means tested benefits can complete the Adelaide University Financial Details for Scholarship Eligibility Form‚ to support their application.
Applicants must provide a written statement (500-750 words) detailing:
⦁ Reasons for studying their program
⦁ Future career goals and personal aspirations‚ including how these align within the Aged Care sector of which Helping Hand operates
⦁ Demonstrate how the grant funds will be used to overcome financial or educational constraints.
⦁ Academic achievements
⦁ Previous and current work experience‚ community involvement and/or extracurricular activities.
The grant will be awarded based on the written statement outlining why the applicant would be a worthy recipient.
