The George Boland Scholarship was established in 2009 by a gift to the University of Adelaide from Josephine Patricia Boland to commemorate the name of her husband, George. George and Patricia were lovers of opera and in particular the Swedish tenor, Jussi Bjorling. The Scholarship is intended to foster the development of classically trained singers for postgraduate coursework or research study at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and School of Performing Arts or elsewhere in Australia.
