The George Alexander Foundation Adelaide University Regional Scholarship is available to commencing full-time students relocating from a rural, regional or remote area to study* in Adelaide to pursue an undergraduate program at Adelaide University. Applicants must have completed year 12 and obtained an ATAR in the two years immediately prior to commencing at Adelaide University.
The scholarship is a prestigious award recognising talented students who can demonstrate strong academic achievement, display active community involvement and leadership skills and/or potential.
The scholarship assists students from regional locations with the costs of attending university away from home (e.g. accommodation‘ food‘ books‘ computers‘ materials and placement costs)‘ allowing them to devote further time to pursue their academic goals and personal development.
Value:
$24,000 (payable over three years)
Payment will be in instalments:
• $4,000 (paid after the census date for Study Period 2)
• $4,000 (paid after the census date for Study Period 5)

⦁ Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, Holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visa, or New Zealand Citizens.
⦁ Academic merit – an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 80 or above (inclusive of any adjustment factor). Documentary evidence required of subjects studied during year 12 and ATAR achieved (when ATAR results are available)
⦁ Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and need to move away from home and live in Adelaide in order to undertake the program.
⦁ Commencing student with Year 12 completion in the two years immediately prior to starting at Adelaide University (applicants must not have previously attended a higher education institution).
⦁ Full-time study load.
⦁ Resided in a rural, regional and remote community* within an Australian locality for at least two years prior to commencing at Adelaide University.
⦁ Completed the final two years of schooling in a high school or college in a regional Australian area (verification required).
* Home postcode must be outside of Major Cities in Australia based on the ASGC Remoteness Area result from the Health Workforce locator.
Applicants are required to submit the following online application via my Scholarship:
⦁ Completed application form (incorporating personal statement and values statement)
⦁ Curriculum Vitae
⦁ Evidence of subjects studied during year 12 and ATAR achieved (when ATAR results are available)
⦁ A letter from their school verifying that the applicant completed the final two years of schooling in a high school or college in a rural, regional or remote community.
⦁ Two referee reports:
1. from a person qualified to comment on academic studies‚ preferably a subject coordinator from the applicant’s secondary school and/or a school principal
2. from a current or past employer or a person competent to supply a character reference (for example‚ a person with whom the candidate has undertaken community service or volunteer activities)
Referees must not be related to the applicant. Examples of a suitable referee could include a school principal‚ workplace manager‚ religious or community leader. At least one of these must be from a referee not connected to the applicant's secondary school.
Applications will be accepted from commencing students who completed year 12 in the past two years in a location classified as very remote‚ remote‚ outer regional or inner regional according to the Department of Health ASGS remoteness standard.
Payments subject to continued enrolment and satisfactory academic progress, including a credit average (GPA 5.0 or above) for the term of the scholarship.
