The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal STEM Scholarship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled full-time in a STEM-related undergraduate program, including the area of Health. This scholarship supports students with a strong desire to succeed and give back to their local communities to complete a university degree.
Value: up to $10,000 (up to $5,000 per year for a maximum of two years for full-time students)
Payment will be in two instalments:
- $2,500 (paid after the census date for Semester 1)
- $2,500 (paid after the census date for Semester 2)

⦁ Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
⦁ Enrolled in an undergraduate College of Engineering and Information Technology, College of Science, or College of Health program.
⦁ Grade point average (GPA) of 4 or above.
⦁ Full-time (preferred).
⦁ Submission of a written statement.
Students undertaking an engineering‚ information technology‚ science or any health science related program are eligible to apply. The scholarship is available to all year levels‚ however preference may be given to applicants in their penultimate year (that is‚ the student will receive scholarship support in the final two years of their program).
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:
⦁ Family heritage and connection to community.
⦁ Reasons for studying current program and how the degree supports future aspirations.
⦁ Academic achievements.
⦁ Community service involvement.
⦁ Financial or educational disadvantage (disclosed at applicants’ discretion).
Shortlisted applicants will not normally be required to be interviewed but may be asked to attend an interview to assist in the decision-making process.
Full-time recipients will be given preference. Part-time applicants will be considered where there is a demonstrated need to study part time. Pro-rata payments will apply to part-time enrolment.

Recipients may be in receipt of another scholarship or grant administered by Adelaide University‚ however previous recipients of other Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal Scholarships are not eligible to apply.
