The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship (sponsored by Department of State Development) is a $5‚000 scholarship open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are enrolled full-time in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate program at Adelaide University. Applicants must be a resident of South Australia at the time of application and expect to reside in South Australia during the term of the scholarship to satisfy the mentoring and/or in-kind assistance provisions of the scholarship.
Value: $5‚000 will be made in two instalments of $2‚500 after the Semester 1 and Semester 2 census dates provided the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress.

Preference may be given to applicants who are experiencing financial and/or other educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study and/or academic merit.

Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a personal written statement and a Curriculum Vitae (CV).The applicant's written statement should outline:
⦁ reasons for studying their current program
⦁ academic achievements
⦁ community service involvement
Important information
The recipient will be offered six hours of informal mentoring or in-kind assistance by the Department of State. In addition‚ the recipient will be given the opportunity to network and build relationships with the Department staff by attending two functions. The recipient must have the ability to be a positive ambassador for the Department.
Previous recipients of a Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
