The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship (supported by Neville Morcombe KC) is available to full time and part time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the first year of a three-year undergraduate program of study or second year of a four/five-year undergraduate program of study within the areas of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Psychology or Social Work at Adelaide University.
The scholarship funds are designed to assist recipients with their living and/or education expenses.
Value:
Up to $45,000 per recipient
Up to $15,000 annually paid in instalments of:
• $7,500 after the Study Period 2 census date
• $7,500 after the Study Period 5 census date
Scholarship recipients who are enrolled part-time will receive pro-rata payments.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship‚ applicants must:
⦁ Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student
⦁ be enrolled full-time or part-time at Adelaide University in the first year of a three year undergraduate program or the second year of a four or five-year undergraduate program in the areas of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Psychology or Social Work
⦁ provide a written statement addressing the points listed below
⦁ provide a Curriculum Vitae
⦁ attend an interview.
Selection criteria
The written statement (maximum 800 words) must include:
⦁ Achievements or prior work highlights and successes
⦁ future career goals
⦁ how the funds will be used
⦁ any past and current work history
⦁ community involvement‚ extracurricular interests and activities.
The scholarship will be awarded based on the CV and written statement outlining why the applicant would be a worthy recipient.
Important information
Ongoing payments are subject to the following:
⦁ Satisfactory academic performance.
⦁ Act as ambassador
⦁ Change of program permitted providing to another eligible program
