A merit-based top-up scholarship bequeathed by Edward Warner Benham in 1969. E.W. Benham was the acting dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Adelaide in 1937.
This scholarship is for candidates eligible commencing full-time graduate research in the area of English literary studies or Anglophone political history. The successful applicant must also be in receipt of a major scholarship. Recipients will receive a top-up stipend of $5,475 p.a. (indexed) for up to 3.5 years.
Eligibility
To be eligible to hold the Scholarship, a candidate must:
- be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand citizen, or permanent Humanitarian Visa holder;
- be enrolled in a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program at the University;
- be undertaking research in the area of:
- English Literary Studies (defined as the scholarship investigation of any literature written in the English language); or
- Anglophone Political History (defined as the scholarly investigation of the political history of any nation or nations whose dominant language is English); and
- be a recipient of a major scholarship at the University.
Selection criteria
The Scholarship will be awarded via a competitive selection process based on academic merit, research potential and relevance of academic research.
