The Taplin Indigenous Bursary for International Education was established at the University of Adelaide by Emeritus Professor John Easton Taplin to support the expenses of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students or staff participating in projects involving engagement with other First Nations peoples overseas.

The Donor, a former University of Adelaide Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), has a strong commitment to the internationalisation of higher education. His motivation is inspired by the pioneering ethnographic and linguistic studies of his his great-grandfather, the Reverend George Taplin, with the Ngarrindjeri people, whose land encompasses the lower Murray River and Lakes region of South Australia, and by his ongoing advocacy on their behalf in the early years following British colonisation.

The Donor wishes to assist the University to establish a bursary for international education that will enable indigenous students or staff to undertake projects engaging with other First Nations peoples in overseas countries.

Value: up to $5,000 paid in one instalment.
