The Smolicz Language Education Scholarship was established in 2007 through gifts from members of the Centre for Intercultural Studies and Multicultural Education (CISME) and the University of Adelaide. The Scholarship was created to honour Professor Smolicz, founder and sole Director of CISME. The scholarship supports undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students undertaking studies in language education.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must:
- Be undertaking the Languages, Curriculum & Pedagogy course as part of their undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at Adelaide University.
- Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- Be enrolled on a full-time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Financial need
- Answers to questions on the application form

- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
