The Mason Prescott Family Scholarship in the Communication of Science was established in 1996 at the University of Adelaide by descendants of Mary Jane and Thomas Mason to promote the communication of science in its broadest sense, with the intention of honouring the contribution of members of the Mason Family to education in England and Australia.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in the final year of the Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) (Honours) with a major in Science; or the Master of Teaching (Secondary) - Science or Master of Education; students must have already completed a Bachelor’s level program in Science, Agricultural or Natural Resource Sciences.
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
- Be enrolled on a full time basis
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Financial need
- Answers to questions on the application form

- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may not apply for this Scholarship
