The J E Jenkins Scholarship was established in 1941 by the late John Evan Jenkins who bequeathed $10,000 to the University of Adelaide support undergraduate students undertaking an undergraduate program, in Agriculture or Social Sciences.
The Scholarships assist with accommodation costs for students who reside in student accommodation provided as part of Adelaide University’s student accommodation provision and are undertaking study at Adelaide University. Properties include Adelaide University Village, Mattanya Student Residence, Roseworthy Residential College, Whyalla Student Village, Scape Adelaide University, Scape Adelaide Central, Scape Waymouth, Yugo Adelaide City, Aquinas College, Lincoln College, St. Ann’s College, and St. Mark’s College.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a commencing or continuing student enrolled in an Agriculture, Social Sciences or Sociology program
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Be enrolled on a full-time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Be residents of student accommodation provided as part of Adelaide University’s student accommodation provision. Eligible residences include Adelaide University Village, Mattanya Student Residence, Roseworthy Residential College, Whyalla Student Village, Scape Adelaide University, Scape Adelaide Central, Scape Waymouth, Yugo Adelaide City, Aquinas College, Lincoln College, St. Ann’s College, and St. Mark’s College.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA or ATAR)
- Preference will be given to students who have served in the Commonwealth armed forces
- Preference will be given to students who have relocated from outside of metropolitan Adelaide.

- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply.
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship.
