The Ian Cocks Memorial Trust Wine Research Scholarship was established by the Ian Cocks Memorial Trust to support students who are undertaking an Honours degree in wine research.
This scholarship is to foster innovation in the Wine Industry through strategic and applied research, and to cultivate a research culture in undergraduates in the wine-related teaching and research areas within the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine.
The scholarship is named in memory of Ian Campbell Cocks (1938-1997) whose contribution to South Australian tourism, the wine industry and commerce was highly regarded.

Value: $9,000 to be paid in two equal instalments.
$1,000 will go to the teaching area in the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolling in an Honours degree in wine research
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- Be enrolled on a full time or part time basis (at the discretion of the Head of Department) in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Carry out a research project (minimum of 24 credit points) under the direction of an academic staff member in a wine related teaching and research area within the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine. The research project will be determined on an annual basis and it is expected that the research will be undertaken in consultation with an industry partner who may contribute in-kind support to the project.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Technical knowledge and communication skills
- Answers to questions on the application form

- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may not apply for this Scholarship
