The District Council of Grant Study Grant offers $1,000 in support for students from the District Council of Grant area who are studying an undergraduate program at Adelaide University’s Mount Gambier campus and are experiencing financial need.
Applicants must have lived within the Council’s boundaries for at least 12 months prior to commencing their studies at Adelaide University. Continuing students may also be eligible if they currently reside in the area and have done so for at least 12 months.
The Grant will be paid as a single instalment and can be used flexibly to assist with the costs of university study, travel, textbooks, or computer equipment and software.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
⦁ be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, Holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Citizen or New Zealand Citizen.
⦁ be the first in their immediate family to attend university.
⦁ have lived within the boundary of the District Council of Grant for at least 12 months before commencing study at Adelaide University or currently live within the council area and have done so for at least 12 months (if a continuing student).
⦁ be enrolled full-time or part-time in an undergraduate program or a pathway program delivered at Adelaide University’s Mount Gambier campus.
⦁ submit a written statement outlining the points below.
The written statement is a critical component of selection and applicants should take care to address the information requested and outline why they would be a worthy grant recipient.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need to apply for the grant. This can be done by providing evidence of current receipt of a Health Care Card and/or a means-tested Centrelink benefit e.g. Austudy, Abstudy, Youth Allowance, etc. Applicants not in receipt of government means tested benefits can complete the Adelaide University’s Financial Details for Scholarship Eligibility form, to support their application.
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) outlining:
⦁ reasons for studying their program and how the degree supports their future goals
⦁ that they are first in their immediate family to attend university
⦁ local community involvement or extracurricular activities
⦁ academic achievements
⦁ how the grant funds will be used
⦁ any financial and/or other educational barriers that impact access to study or continued study that the applicant wishes to be taken into account.
To receive the grant, applicants must demonstrate an affinity with the District Council of Grant area, academic achievement and a passion for their Adelaide University program.
The Grant will be awarded based on the written statement and academic merit.
Applicants will not be required to attend an interview.
Students may be in receipt of another scholarship or grant administered by Adelaide University.
If, in the view of the selection panel, no applicant is sufficiently meritorious, no award shall be made and the District Council of Grant will be notified.
The recipients will be recognised at the annual Mount Gambier Campus Scholarships and Grants Ceremony.
