The DesignInc Master of Architecture Grant will be awarded to full-time or part-time Adelaide University Master of Architecture students and is designed to complement enrolment in the course ARCH 5004 Advanced Architectural Design Studio (Construction Technologies).
A paid work placement at DesignInc is a requirement of the grant and recipients may, if eligible, apply for credit as a ‘recognition of prior learning’ based on completed placement hours with DesignInc towards the completion of a 6.0 unit elective course in the Master of Architecture. The placement will take place in final year (exact timing and duration to be mutually agreed between DesignInc and the recipient considering the study, work and family commitments of the student, and the firm’s ability to host the placement).
Value: $5,000 per recipient
Two equal instalments of:
- $2,500.00 after Semester 1 census date
- $2,500.00 after Semester 2 census date

Eligibility
Eligibility and selection criteria:
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent resident of Australia, Holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or New Zealand Citizen.
- Be enrolled in the Master of Architecture (MAARC) program full time or part time.
- Be enrolled in or have completed ARCH5004 Advanced Architectural Design Studio (Construction Technologies)
- Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or above (based on the Bachelor of Architectural Design (BARCH), or equivalent program and coursework completed at Masters level)
- Indicate willingness to undertake a paid work placement at a mutually agreed time and duration
- Not be in current receipt of a scholarship or grant sponsored by another architecture company
- Submit a written statement.
- Provide a Curriculum Vitae and a portfolio of design work.
- Attend an interview.
Selection criteria
Applicants must provide a written statement (500-750 words) detailing:
- Reasons for studying architecture
- Future career goals within the architecture industry and how the grant and work opportunity will help achieve these goals
- Academic standing and achievements
- Work experience, community involvement and/or extracurricular activities/interests
- Agreement to undertake a paid work placement at DesignInc at a mutually agreed time and duration and what they will hope to gain from the placement
- The name of any scholarships or grants currently held (or where an application is pending)
Important information
Students may hold other scholarships or grants administered by Adelaide University; however, the recipient should not be in current receipt of a scholarship or grant sponsored by another architecture company.
If, in the view of the selection panel, no applicant is sufficiently meritorious, no award shall be made.
Payment of second installment is subject to recipient:
- Enrolment
- Satisfactory academic progress
- Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or above.
