This Scholarship was established in 2003 at the University of Adelaide
from the generosity of members of the South Australian legal fraternity and the
proceeds of the Portrait of John Bray and Dame Roma Glimpses of a Glorious Life
Volumes. The scholarship assists and encourages law students wanting to
undertake a human rights internship as part of their Bachelor of Law (Honours)
degree at Adelaide University.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:
- Be undertaking the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled in an internship related to human rights law as part of the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
* Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic merit (GPA)
- Financial need
- Answers to questions on the application form
Important information
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Please note, where two or more candidates are of equal merit in any year, the Scholarship may be divided equally amongst them.
- Students in receipt of other Adelaide University Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship but students cannot be awarded both a Law Foundation of SA Inc Human Rights Internship Scholarship and the Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship.
