The Curro Arts, Business, Law and Economics Scholarship was established by Vincenzo Curro (BA 1981, Dip Ed 1984) and Vivian Curro (Grad Cert Sc Ed 1996). The scholarship supports a commencing undergraduate student experiencing financial hardship or other forms of disadvantage. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in arts, business, law or economics and demonstrates an aspiration to work in the field of social justice.

Value: $10,000 per year to be paid in two instalments.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be commencing an undergraduate arts, business, law or economics program at Adelaide University 
  • Be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  • Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
  • Demonstrate you are in financial need*
    * Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
    **Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need. 

Selection criteria

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:

  • Academic merit (ATAR)
  • Financial need
  • Demonstrated interest in social justice
  • Answers to questions on the application form
  • Preference for a student who either holds a permanent humanitarian visa or identifies as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI)

  • You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
  • The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
  • Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may not apply for this Scholarship
