The Cowan Young Endeavour Grant is available to students who are enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program at the Adelaide University.

The Young Endeavour is Australia's national sail training ship and a voyage involves 11 days at sea, living and sailing with 23 other youth crew from all over Australia. The Young Endeavour is operated by the Royal Australian Navy and provides a unique professional development opportunity to develop communication, leadership and team work skills. Please note that students must be aged between 16 - 23 years to undertake the voyage.

The grant includes a berth on the Young Endeavour and will cover travel expenses.

Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need, academic merit (GPA) and a personal written statement.

Important information

  • Please note that students must be aged between 16 - 23 years to undertake the voyage. 
  • The grant does not include a cash payment‚ the value is calculated on the estimated travel costs and berth hire associated with a voyage aboard the Young Endeavour
  • detailing how the experience on the Young Endeavour will enhance their professional development and long-term career goals.
  • a supporting statement from your Program Director OR character reference (referees must not be related to you. Examples of a referee could include a teacher, school principal, lawyer, social worker, religious or community leader, Justice of the Peace (JP)).
