In 2024, Edna Phyllis Chatfield bequeathed $700,000 to the University of Adelaide for the purpose of establishing scholarships to support students undertaking studies in piano at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. Ms Chatfield enjoyed learning and playing the piano and attended many concerts at the Elder Conservatorium of Music during her lifetime.
The Chatfield Memorial Masters Scholarship for Piano supports students undertaking a Master of Music (Performance Studies) or Master of Music (Performance and Pedagogy) program of study and specialising in piano at Adelaide University.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be:
- Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent residents of Australia or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa understanding full time study in a Commonwealth Supported Place or an international student
- Commencing or continuing in the Master of Music (Performance Studies) or Master of Music (Performance and Pedagogy) and specialising in piano
Selection criteria
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic Merit
- Auditions, performances or interviews relevant to the School of Performing Arts and Elder Conservatorium of Music.

- There is no application process for this scholarship, it will be directly awarded
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible for this scholarship
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may be eligible for this Scholarship
