The Bob Cowan OAM Forestry Research Scholarship honours the outstanding contribution of Bob Cowan OAM to the forestry industry and the Mount Gambier community.
This scholarship aims to support a Graduate Research student undertaking research at the Forestry Centre of Excellence in Mount Gambier.
The scholarship provides financial assistance for research-related costs, enabling students to focus on delivering high-quality research that contributes to innovation and advancement in the forestry sector.

$5,000 awarded as a once-off payment
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Master of Research (MRes) at Adelaide University; and
- Be undertaking your research at the Forestry Centre of Excellence; and
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee holding a permanent humanitarian visa (or similar visa for refugees)
Past recipients may reapply. Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received the scholarship.
Selection criteria
Applications will be assessed on:
- The quality and relevance of your proposed research
- Alignment with forestry research priorities at the Forestry Centre of Excellence
- The potential impact of your research on the forestry sector
- The clarity and appropriateness of your proposed use of funds
Important information
The scholarship is awarded once per year, subject to funding confirmation.
Recipients are expected to acknowledge the Bob Cowan OAM Forestry Research Scholarship in any publications or presentations arising from the supported research.
