The BAE Systems Australia First Nations Scholarship in Engineering is available to students enrolled full-time in an eligible engineering undergraduate program at Adelaide University.

Value:
Up to $40,000 per recipient over 4 years of study.
$10,000 annually paid in instalments of:
⦁ $5,000 after the Semester 1 census date
⦁ $5,000 after the Semester 2 census date

Ongoing payments are subject to satisfactory academic progress and continued enrolment in eligible engineering programs.

Scholarship recipients will be requested to submit a progress report in the year in which they receive the scholarship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:
⦁ identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
⦁ be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
⦁ be a first or second year student
⦁ enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Honours), Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) or Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) (Honours)
⦁ not previously completed an undergraduate degree at any other institution.
⦁ eligible to apply for and hold an Australian Government security clearance
⦁ be willing to consider an opportunity to complete a paid professional experience, including industry placement or final year project as part of their engineering program at BAE Systems Australia.
⦁ provide a written statement addressing the points listed below
⦁ provide a Curriculum Vitae
⦁ attend an interview 

Selection criteria

Applicants must provide a CV and a written statement (maximum 750 words) that includes:
⦁ reasons for studying their engineering degree
⦁ future career goals within the engineering or defence industry
⦁ interest in completing professional experience and placement activities with BAE to support their course of study
⦁ academic standing and achievements, for example Year 12 academic records and ATAR
⦁ how the scholarship will assist them

Applications will be evaluated based on equity and financial need, along with student motivation and inspiration for applying for the scholarship, with a preference for students who have not already received a corporate scholarship or other $15,000+ scholarships through the University,. particularly from another defence organisation.

Preference will be given to first year commencing students.

Paid professional experience with BAE Systems aims to support recipients competency development and course accreditation requirements

The offer of the scholarship is subject to being admitted to, and enrolling in, an eligible program. If a scholarship holder does not enrol in an eligible program the scholarship will be offered to the next ranked applicant.
