The Anthony and Robin Radford Family Student Grant will be awarded to an undergraduate student from a refugee or humanitarian background who demonstrates financial need. Applicants will be studying full time at any year level in one of the following undergraduate programs:
⦁ Physiotherapy
⦁ Nursing and Midwifery
⦁ Occupational Therapy
⦁ Medical Radiation Sciences
⦁ Podiatry
⦁ Social Work
⦁ Speech Pathology
An Adelaide medical graduate, the late Professor Emeritus Anthony Radford A.M. was inspired to work in Papua New Guinea (PNG). He was the only doctor for up to 50,000 people and implemented courses in rural medicine and development in the Department of Health and later at the University of PNG. Anthony’s career spanned five continents and 45 countries and included refugee settlements to support those at risk in the world. His wife Robin was a partner in many of his endeavours and was also involved in social work, community development, and original research in local history.
The grant funds are designed to assist recipients with their living and/or education expenses.

A refugee or humanitarian background is a person who has held‚ currently holds or has made an application for a protection visa
Applicants must provide a written statement (maximum 700 words) detailing:
⦁ Their background prior to Adelaide University study including their journey to Australia.
⦁ Reasons for studying their current program and how the degree supports future aspirations.
⦁ Academic achievements.
⦁ Work experience‚ community involvement and extracurricular activities/interests.
⦁ Details of any financial or educational disadvantage they would like considered.
⦁ How the grant funds will be used‚ including alleviation of any financial need.
⦁ The name of any scholarships or grants currently held (or where an application is pending).
The grant will be awarded based on the content of the written statement‚ financial need and demonstrated passion for their field of study.
A student may only receive the Anthony and Robin Radford Family Student Grant once.
