The Angela Lakin Scholarship was established in 1970 by friends of the late Angela Lakin (1943-1969) to commemorate her remarkable achievements in music. Blind from birth, Angela overcame significant challenges graduated with an Honours Degree of Bachelor of Music from the University of Adelaide in 1966, amongst other musical achievements.
The scholarship supports music students with a physical disability at the School of Performing Arts and Elder Conservatorium of Music.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be undertaking the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music (Advanced) on a full time or part time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place, OR
- Be a student of the Centre for Young Musicians in the Open Music Academy of the Elder Conservatorium of Music
- Have a physical disability (if an undergraduate student of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, be registered with Access and Inclusion)
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
* Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Financial need
- Musical merit
- Answers to questions on the application form
