The Angas Civil Engineering Scholarship was established in 1888 by a donation to the University of Adelaide by the Honourable John Howard Angas MLC. Originally, the scholarship aimed to support South Australian students to study civil engineering in England and return with skills to benefit the colony.
Due to the change in circumstances since 1888, namely the domestic offering of civil engineering courses and the current relative value of the scholarship, the Attorney General for the State of South Australia in approved a variation to the trust in June 2022. This permits the University to award a scholarship to a student studying civil engineering at the University
