The Adelaide University Rural Reconnect Relocation Scholarships were established as part of the University of South Australia Rural Reconnect project. These scholarships‚ valued at $8‚000 each‚ will assist students from rural and isolated areas to fund their relocation costs associated with moving to the city in order to pursue full-time undergraduate study.
Value: $8,000 split into three instalments provided the recipient continues to meet the scholarship criteria and maintains a GPA of 5.0 or above.
Scholarship payments instalments: $3,000 in February‘ $4,000 in July‘ and $1,000 at the conclusion of Semester 2. The final payment is subject to demonstrated community involvement.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship‚ applicants must:
- be Australian citizens, Permanent Residents of Australia, Holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visa or New Zealand Citizens
- commencing full-time study in an undergraduate degree program
- have completed Year 12 within the last two and a half years.
Candidate selection
Applicants are required to submit the following:
- A character reference – the reference must also verify that the applicant has lived in a rural or isolated area for at least 4 years prior to the scholarship application
- a written statement (max 500 words) detailing:
o career goals
o personal goals
o how the recipient intends to give back to the community by returning to their high school and addressing year 11 and 12 students regarding their university experience.
Important information
- Assessment is made on the basis of financial need‚ academic merit‚ a personal written statement‚ and a character reference.
- Recipients are also required to contribute to their local community‚ provide a written reflection at the conclusion of their scholarship‚ and participate in scholarship research.
