Australia Awards

Adelaide University welcomes international students sponsored by the Australian Government to study with us in a variety of areas under the Australia Awards Scholarships program.

Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships that offer the next generation of global leaders from eligible countries the opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia.

The Australia Awards Scholarships program provides opportunities for you to study in Australia. The program aims to strengthen the capacity of partner countries in agreed priority areas, by providing scholarships to help you develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and contribute to development outcomes in your home country.

Every Australia Awards scholar fosters new and stronger relationships between Australia and its neighbouring countries, and enriches the university’s campuses. As an Australia Awards scholar, you’ll have a fantastic study experience, as well as the opportunity to build relationships and networks that last a lifetime.

How to apply

Applications for Australia Awards Scholarships are received by Australian embassies or offices, who administer the scholarships on behalf of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in participating countries. Information on how to apply is available on the Australia Awards website

To learn more about the application process in your country, please contact the relevant office in your region. View the list of countries and their contact details on the Australia Awards website

To be eligible to apply for an Australia Awards scholarship, your home country must be included on the list of participating countries. You can find this list on the Australia Awards website

Applications typically open in early February and close at the end of April of the same year. Visit the Australia Awards website to view exact dates.

Each country has different priority areas, and all study programs must relate to your country's priority areas for development. You should also make sure your country allows scholarships for the level of study you wish to undertake (such as undergraduate, masters by coursework, masters by research, or PhD).
