Meeting the conditions of your offer

Meeting the conditions of your offer

If you receive a conditional offer, the conditions will be outlined in your Offer of Admission. You must fulfil all the conditions before you can accept your offer.  See below for the types of conditions you may have to meet.

International students seeking admission to coursework programs must meet minimum English language requirements. This can be proven through English language tests (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL – iBT), previous qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate) and through evidence of English proficiency in some cases. Find out more about English language proficiency.

If you meet the academic eligibility requirements but not the minimum English language requirements for your program, you may receive a conditional offer packaged with an English language preparatory program from our English Language Centre. To meet the requirements of your conditional offer, you will need to successfully complete the packaged English language program or be able to demonstrate that you meet the minimum English language requirements by providing the results of an accepted English language test taken within the last two years.

You may be required to provide final academic results. If you are a high school student, you need to send us your final high school transcript and completion certificate. If you are a tertiary student, you need to provide your Bachelor parchment (if possible) and your final transcript.

If your offer has a condition that requires you to ‘maintain your current academic performance’ you will need to log into your application and upload your final results, so that your Grade Point Average (GPA) can be recalculated.

Education Agents representing Adelaide University have authority to certify any supporting academic documents when submitting your application. However, there may be a condition on your offer which requires certification from another third party.

Applicants applying directly to Adelaide University (not applying with an Education Agent) may submit electronic documents with their application if these are a scanned copy of the original that has been certified.

Adelaide University will only accept scanned documents if they are correctly certified. Contact us for more information.

Your offer may include a condition requiring satisfaction of Adelaide University’s Genuine Student requirement. We will undertake further checks of your application and you may be asked to book and complete an interview as part of this process.

When assessing your Genuine Student requirement, we will consider Australian Government guidelines including:

  • Details of your current circumstances, including ties to family, community, employment and economic circumstances

  • Your immigration history including any visa refusals

  • Gaps in study (including work experience), change in area of study, relevance of the program to past or proposed future employment

  • Your knowledge of the program and how it will benefit you

  • Your knowledge of Adelaide University and Australia

  • If you have studied in Australia, a detailed history of your study record in Australia

  • Any other relevant information, including evidence to support the above.

When you have met the Genuine Student requirement and all other conditions, you (or your Education Agent) will be issued an unconditional Offer of Admission with instructions on how to accept. Applicants who already hold a temporary visa must provide a copy of their current visa grant notice as part of their application so we can determine if the Genuine Student requirement is applicable.

If you have been assessed as not meeting the Genuine Student requirement, your offer will be withdrawn, and you will not be eligible for an offer from Adelaide University for two years.

If you have applied through an Education Agent, they can help you supply the required documents and meet any English Language proficiency conditions.

If you have applied directly, you can upload your documents within our Online Application System.
