Entry requirements

Admission criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved at least one of the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria.

  • A completed bachelor (AQF level 7) or bachelor honours (AQF level 8) degree or equivalent from a recognised higher education institution; OR
  • A completed nested or related graduate certificate (AQF level 8) or higher or equivalent from a recognised higher education institution.

This degree requires a Grade Point Average (GPA) equivalent to an Adelaide University 4.5 on a 7-point scale for entry.

English language entry requirements

In addition, international students who speak English as an additional language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at Adelaide University. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

This degree will develop your knowledge in information technology to create digital innovative solutions in the thriving IT industry.

The Master of Information Management specialising in Computing and Innovation has a strong focus on skill development in the areas of introductory programming and computer systems. You'll also learn how to design and construct large software systems for companies.

You’ll spend time learning from world-class academics and researchers to develop communication and project management skills through real-world projects with industry.

Graduate prepared to improve business communications systems and problem-solve using a combination of technical skills and analytical thinking in the dynamic world of IT.

What you'll learn

This degree covers core IT courses and specialisations designed to reflect real industry demand. You’ll have the chance to study introductory programming and computer systems, learning to design and construct large software systems.

In your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to complete an internship where you’ll take an evidence-based approach to investigate a strategic industry issue and design a suitable solution.

Your final year will see you hone your technical and innovative skillset in a second industry project under the guidance of highly experienced mentors.

Assessments for this degree include project work, written assignments, practical work and examinations.

This degree offers flexible hybrid delivery, which includes a mix of on-campus and online study.

You’ll be able to complete the majority of first year common courses at either our Adelaide City or Mawson Lakes Campus with some potential cross-campus study required. Throughout your degree, you’ll gain access to cutting-edge facilities across both campus locations to enhance your overall learning experience.

Study hours

Your courses will require a combination of different learning formats, including lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals.
