Accreditation
This program is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Education and Admission Council (LPEAC). To be admitted to legal practice, graduates are required to fulfil the practical requirements for admission, which includes the completion of the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
This program is accredited by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and CPA Australia. Graduates are eligible for membership with these professional accreditation bodies.
What courses you'll study
Complete 240 units comprising:
- 186 units for Core courses, and
- 54 units for Electives
Complete 186 units comprising:
- 174 units for all Core courses, and
- 12 units from Core selective courses
Notes
- The Laws Double Degree (Honours) comprises 240 units and includes: 132 units from the Bachelor of Laws program; and 96 units from the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) program.
- In addition to completion of the core courses, students must complete 12 units of Capstone Law Elective courses: LAWS1036 - Legal Advice Clinic ; OR LAWS1124 - Law Professional Placement
- All students who, as part of a course, undertake activities where interaction with clients/the public/an external organisation are required, such as industry placements or clinical placement, must demonstrate that they have a current National Police Clearance, which is valid for the duration of the course. External placement providers may also require a current DHS - Working with Children Check (WWCC), which is valid for the duration of the course. The National Police Check will list disclosable court outcomes that may prevent clinical placement/industry placement involvement, requiring withdrawal from the course.
- Students must complete the requirements of each degree as specified in the relevant program schedule to receive both degree parchments.
