Career outcomes
A creative arts degree can open doors to a wide range of careers that align with your interests and passions.
You could become a creative practitioner – think writer, web designer, or content creator. Or you could work in a professional role within the creative industries through jobs like an arts administrator, festival manager or cultural liaison officer.
You could find work in the public or private sector, in areas such as:
- Digital media
- Publishing
- Museums and galleries
- Entertainment, festivals and events
- Community arts and cultural development
- Urban renewal
- Policy development.
This degree also provides a pathway for further postgraduate study or research.
Industry trends
The creative sector is experiencing significant growth worldwide. Advances in digital technologies, cultural tourism and collaborations between sectors like film, gaming and virtual reality are providing new opportunities for creative thinkers with strong problem-solving skills.
Cultural and creative activities also play an important role in Australia's economy. They contributed $122.3 billion in 2019-20, an increase of 27% over the past decade (Bureau of Communications, Arts and Regional Research, 2022).
This is an industry area that is internationally recognised as being resistant to automation, and a jobs-rich area of the economy with significant growth potential (Australian Academy of the Humanities, 2020).
