Course overview

Art in Public introduces students to the history, methods, and theories of public art. The course aims to provide an understanding of the range of public art practices. With this background and knowledge, students are then given professional experience in the community and public spheres. Students will learn the requirements for a public art proposal, including how to respond to industry briefs, assessing risk and WHS guidelines, undertaking ethical forms of engagement with publics and communities, and respecting cultural sensitivities.
