Course overview

This course will explore advanced contemporary painting practices, complemented by digital and non traditional techniques and materials and to examine the discipline of painting in the expanded field of visual art. Students will advance their knowledge and skills in painting, installation, digital technologies, material and substrate experimentation and non-traditional industrial processes and technologies. The students will also extend their knowledge and visual language of contemporary painting and adopt appropriate occupational health and safety procedures.

Course learning outcomes

  • Execute technical skills and apply material processes in the production of contemporary art using experimental and innovative painting techniques.
  • Critique the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that underpin contemporary art practice and painting in the expanded field.
  • Implement knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements of the Painting studio and/or workshop and in the manufacture of contemporary art.
