Course overview

Fine Arts Professional Experience provides Fine Arts students with the opportunity to apply their creative skills and disciplinary knowledge in a professional context. Through partnerships with industry, community organisations, or independent initiatives, students will engage in real-world Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences that reflect the diverse applications of artistic practice and develop the resources and strategies necessary for careers in the creative arts.

Course learning outcomes

  • Gain professional experience through an internship, project or other WIL experience in an industry or workplace relevant to the program of study
  • Articulate and plan towards career goals in the context of the professional experience activity. Develop skills in preparing a professional-standard resume and/or portfolio.
  • Demonstrate understandings of professionalism as it relates to the discipline, and the connections between academic learning and professional practice, including application of networking skills in professional settings.
  • Apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the program of study to undertake relevant professional tasks, build networks, and produce effective outputs, and reflect critically on this experience.
  • Articulate and analyse the roles and practices of the discipline in professional contexts and reflect on the value of the WIL experience to ongoing learning in this area.
