Course overview

The aim of this course is to extend students' abilities in the methods and principles of experimenting creatively with Motion Design. Students will build on their graphic design skills by: developing concepts of motion design, applying design principles to 2D motion graphics and exploring how timing, motion, and visual movement synchronised with sound can convey meaning. Students will create animations that demonstrate effective communication through development of narrative and theme. They will explore the core principles of animation by creating short motion graphic clips.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply principles and processes of animation for effective communication of narrative and theme.
  • Design, experiment with and produce motion graphics works using a range of processes and techniques throughout various stages of production.
  • Apply the skills to effectively operate software required to create motion graphics work.
  • Demonstrate basic film production knowledge, processes and techniques to create engaging motion graphics.
