Course overview

In this course, students will develop concepts of space, intention, site and intervention via experimental approaches to working with a range of materials and processes within specific sites. Students will develop knowledge and skills in sculptural construction techniques, forming process, exploring a range of materials such as wood, plaster, metal, textile, plastic and found objects. Through these techniques and processes students will develop creative formal responses to conceptual motives.

Course learning outcomes

  • Use technical skills and material processes in the production of contemporary art objects using wood, plaster, metal, textile, plastic and found objects.
  • Summarise the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that underpin contemporary art practice in the use of sculpture construction techniques.
  • Employ knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements of the Sculpture studio and/or workshop and in the manufacture of contemporary art objects.
