Course overview
This course will introduce the basic principles of image capture and printing using traditional wet photographic processes. Students will develop knowledge and skills in the areas of Black and White Photography including 35mm cameras, films, light meters, tripods, darkroom equipment, printing procedures, visual literacy, art-based concept development, critical and theoretical thought and presentation of work.
Course learning outcomes
- Use technical skills and material processes in the production of contemporary art using film and film cameras.
- Summarise the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that underpin contemporary art practice in analogue photography.
- Employ knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements of the Photography Studio and Darkroom.
