Course overview
The course provides students with the opportunity to learn and apply the principles of evaluating case history, clinical presentations, diagnosis, and treatment or management of medical and surgical conditions encountered in equine practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Interpret a complete clinical examination including focused examination of each of the body systems.
- Make an accurate assessment of equine patient problems and formulate a list of differential diagnoses
- Select and request appropriate investigations
- Interpret and evaluate data from history, physical examination and other investigations to formulate diagnosis in horses
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment, management and follow-up plans and monitor their effectiveness
- Manage complications of veterinary procedures and presenting problems
- Describe conditions which are commonly seen in general practice, and which should be referred to specialists
- Implement appropriate preventative, management and therapeutic strategies for horses
