Course overview

Pathology is a core discipline in veterinary medicine. Students will learn general principles about the processes involved in disease. These general principles will then be demonstrated by study of specific diseases of animals and how they affect the major body systems.

Course learning outcomes

  • Develop the ability to properly describe gross lesions using appropriate pathologic terminology.
  • Recognise the pathological features of the most common diseases in domestic animals.
  • Be able to compare similar diseases in different animals.
  • Be able to compare effects of similar lesions in disparate organ systems.
  • Be able to critically evaluate when / what samples are required depending upon the differential diagnosis.
