Course overview

This course will provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of intensive production species and the common problems encountered within these systems. Emphasis will be placed on pigs, poultry and aquaculture industries.

Course learning outcomes

  • To have a knowledge of the common problems encountered within aquaculture industries
  • To have a knowledge of the common problems encountered within pig industries
  • To have a knowledge of the common problems encountered within the poultry industries
  • To be able to assess the common problems encountered within intensive production industries
  • To be able to conduct a clinical audit of intensive production facilities
  • To be able to prepare a veterinary health plan for an intensive production facility

  • must have completed all of VETS5005 General Pathology/VETS5007 Veterinary Clinical Pathology and Theriogenology
