Course overview
The aim of this course is to equip learners with foundational statistical knowledge and practical skills in data analysis using the R programming language, with emphasis on contemporary applications of statistical modelling techniques to a wide range of real-world situations. Learners will be developing problem-solving and communication skills to enable them to effectively analyse and interpret data, make informed decisions, and communicate findings to support evidence-based practice in science and related disciplines.
Course learning outcomes
- Discuss key aspects of study design, sampling and statistical analysis in scenarios drawn from published research, industry, or own experience
- Apply appropriate statistical techniques or procedures to analyse data in a variety of experimental and observational situations
- Interpret and effectively communicate results of statistical analyses
- Effectively use R for data exploration and statistical analysis tasks
