Course overview
This course aims to develop students’ abilities in the field of professional outdoor leadership in a bush environment. Students will learn to manage risk, instruct safe practices, respond to critical incidents including injury, and develop search and rescue practices. Students will develop skills and knowledge as an Outdoor Education Practitioner including structured experiential learning, develop advanced skills and knowledge in navigation practice and teaching and develop skills to prepare for and lead an extended lightweight expedition in a remote bush setting for educational purposes.

Course learning outcomes
- Apply skills and knowledge in a complex environment to (independently) lead, guide and instruct safe outdoor travel in an outdoor activity such as bushwalking.
- Plan and implement an activity in an outdoor setting such as bushwalking.
- Apply and evaluate a range of teaching and learning methods in bush environments.
- Perform comprehensive risk assessments for a complex bush environment.
