Course overview

This course allows students to consider the impact of digitalisation on sport and how sport is managed, with a focus on the role of social media, analytics and the rise of e-sports.

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain the important role that digitalisation has in contemporary sport management
  • Discuss the role digital technology has in sport organisations
  • Be able to analyse and interpret analytics relating to sport organisations and performance
  • Discuss the opportunities and threats that digitalisation has presented for the sport industry
  • Critically analyse the ethical and legal implications of digitalisation in sport
