Course overview
Seen as an integral component in the preparation for a professional career, the course is designed to be an active learning experience based around the completion of an industry work placement. Students will undertake an agreed project or series of tasks/responsibilities, in an area that is of career interest. It is envisioned that they will have the opportunity to apply some of the knowledge and skills developed through coursework whilst developing professional contacts and relationships within the industry. The working experience can also be advantageous in guiding future study and career focus, as well as the identification of personal strengths and areas for development.
Course learning outcomes
- Link academic research techniques, practices and discipline to the practical needs of industry
- Formulate, implement and explain objectives for a field placement which directly links academic learning with industry needs
- Develop personal and career goals and identify steps to realise these goals
- Develop skills and competencies which will assist in securing suitable field placements
- Reflect and derive learning outcomes both form a personal and organisational perspective
