Course overview
This course aims to provide students with knowledge regarding how the Commercial Operations of sport and recreation organisations, specifically how they manage their need to generate and maintain revenue streams and fund their operations and programs. The course also aims to develop knowledge of marketing principles as they uniquely apply to the sport and recreation setting. Individuals who can successfully assist sport organisations in this area are highly sought after. This course is designed to provide students with knowledge, skills, and techniques in the area of commercial operations that will provide an advantage when securing future job opportunities in the sport and recreation industry.

Course learning outcomes
- Evaluate previously developed sport management skills by applying commercial decision-making techniques to improve business acumen relevant to future employment contexts.
- Independently assess marketing strategy needs of a corporate organisation and provide a sport sponsorship solution based on a detailed analysis of a specific sport organisation
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in solving complex and dynamic sport organisation commercial operations problems, including applying fundamental marketing concepts in the sport context.
- Identify the importance of sales, networking and relationship building skills as they apply in the unique commercial sport setting
- Demonstrates an understanding of the layers of sport delivery and the associated levels of government funding that are available
